Podocarpus totara 'Dart'
A friend who use to live in Glenorchy showed me this tree growing at a popular viewing point overlooking the mighty Dart River. I was very taken with it. NB photo showing it growing among other Podocarpus totara. I propagate very few trees for sale, but this is one I do as when planting out it requires no protection from 'possum, rabbit or hare because of it prickles on it's leaf. Fantastic shelter, especially in strong cold winds. Appears slightly more rounded in growth to around 6m high. Photo closeup taken in winter but in spring it appears a varigation of pale lemon. Can be trimmed and used in topiary.
